Sea Legend team safely accomplished Engine Room Crane modification services for MV SM NEW ORLEANS when she called at Zhenjiang Port, delivered a turnkey solution including design, electric retrofit, spare supply & installation, system testing and commissioning.

Job Scope:

A-01 CHECK SPARE AND WORK CONDITION

A-02 DISMANTLE OLD MOTOR AND CONTROL PANEL

A-03 ADJUST LIMITING STOPPER POSITION

A-04 INSTALL NEW MOTOR

A-05 INSTALL NEW CONTROL PANEL, MODIFY ELECTRICAL AND CONTROL SYSTEM

A-06 ADD REMOTE CONTROLLER AND SIGNAL RECEIVER

A-07 FUNCTION TEST AND LOAD 

The previous E/R Overhead Crane installed onboard does not have a Slow Up/Down (low speed) function, which creates safety concerns during engine maintenance work. In particular:

· During Exhaust Valve replacement, the lowering speed is excessively fast, frequently resulting in damage to O-rings and sealing rings.

· During Piston overhaul work, the lack of fine speed control poses a significant safety risk to both personnel and equipment.

Considering that the E/R crane may be frequently required during the dry dock period, the modification is required to be complete during port stay to avoid effecting docking work. Although there are technical and scheduling challenges, we completed it efficiently without causing any delay or disruption to the docking schedule.
